    CoreBone Ltd. is developing bioactive bone substitute for dental and orthopedic applications based on a technology for growing corals in a strictly controlled coral farm environment, including adding specific materials to give the coral special bioactive properties.   • Sniffing out schizophrenia using nose cell samples

    The human nose may hold the key to diagnosing schizophrenia, according to a team of US-Israeli researchers. Extracting nerve cells from as close as possible to the brain, in the upper nasal cavity of the olfactory epithelium (OE), via a nasal swab, could allow the first ever biological diagnosis for schizophrenia, paving the way for early therapeutic intervention.

  • INDIA’S TATA INDUSTRIES TO INVEST $5M IN NEW TAU TECH FUND

    Tata, part of Indian conglomerate Tata Group, will be the lead investor in a planned $20 million fund at Tel Aviv University's technology transfer company Ramot, aimed at commercializing the university’s research, saying it sees the university as its Israeli R&D center. Tata executive director Rameshwar Jamwal said it was Tata’s first major investment in Israel and that it would likely invest further.  “This allows us over a period of time to show our commitment to Israel but we are interested in doing more.”

    EnStorage, a developer of large scale electricity storage solutions, has announced today that it has produced the first ever grid connected Hydrogen-Bromine (HBr) flow battery. The 50 KW battery was connected at the company's test site in southern Israel and provides up to 100 KWh of energy.
    EnStorage’s breakthroughs are based on a fuel cell technology developed by Prof. Emanuel Peled of Tel-Aviv University's School of Chemistry.
    The core technology was licensed from Ramot – Tel Aviv University's Technology transfer company.
